Musk Melts Down As Tesla's Stock Price Plunges.

Elon Musk's X feed on Monday featured the typical mix of posts from accounts connected to President Donald Trump (who still favors his own website, Truth Social), attacks on Democrats, and paranoid politics. Nevertheless, there were also several posts about Tesla.

In this electric car company, he remains CEO despite his apparent full-time work for the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). This task force fires thousands of government employees while burning the administrative state.

For instance, Musk shared a TikTok of a man showcasing the features and appearance of a Tesla Model Y. Before that, he emphasized pro-Tesla remarks made by MAGA conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer and anti-LGBTQ activist Robby Starbuck.

He posted a video over the weekend from a Tesla fan account showing the Cybercab prototype, a two-seater robotaxi that the company is reportedly planning to produce by 2026. With the caption, "Heartfelt thanks to everyone supporting @Tesla, despite many attacks against our stores and offices," he also shared a video that was filmed by a customer in their brand-new Cybertruck. The comment made reference to a few isolated fires that occurred at Tesla stores in recent days, some of which were suspected or confirmed arsons, as well as showrooms that were damaged or vandalized by gunfire.

Musk may have boosted his advertising because of Tesla's erratic Wall Street results. On Monday, the stock finally fell precipitously, plummeting over 15 percent, making it one of the worst trading days for the company since it went public in 2010. Following Trump's election victory in November, when investors evidently believed that a firm led by the president-elect's biggest Super PAC supporter was a wise investment, Tesla's decline destroyed the last traces of that rise. Since peaking in mid-December, its value has dropped by more than half, or around $800 billion.

This turnaround was caused by several factors, such as market-wide decreases and indications of a potential recession. However, since Musk surged into Washington, gave what was widely regarded as a Nazi salute at an inauguration event, and sought to abolish entire federal offices at a stroke—all while continuing to spread far-right falsehoods about X—the Tesla brand has also become particularly toxic. A official protest effort called Tesla Takedown was formed last month in response to the growing reaction. It calls for investors in the company to sell their shares and organizes frequent rallies at Tesla locations worldwide. It also encourages a boycott.

Not surprisingly, Musk has attacked the peaceful campaign and linked it to attacks when suspected arsonists tossed Molotov cocktails at dealerships, calling the Tesla Takedown a sham created by wealthy leftists. He asserted without providing any proof on X on Saturday that some sort of “investigation” had shown that the Democratic fundraising platform ActBlue was being used to finance the organizations behind the Tesla protests, which were supported by affluent philanthropists such as George Soros, Reid Hoffman, and Leah Hunt-Hendrix.

Musk also blamed two other alleged financiers of Tesla Takedown, Patricia Bauman and Herbert Sandler, who passed away in 2024 and 2019, respectively, in addition to lying about ActBlue's operations, which state that it is a platform for donors to send money to liberal organizations and Democratic political candidates.

A post from a Tesla-promoting account detailing the historical ties of other automakers, such as Mercedes and Volkswagen, to the Nazi government was emphasized by Musk elsewhere. Musk tweeted, "Alyssa Milano loves Hitler," in response to a post about the actress trading in her Tesla for a VW electric car.. Additionally, he responded to a self-described nationalist user's baseless allegation that Luigi Mangione, the alleged killer of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, is the inspiration behind "groups" targeting Tesla property. He wrote, "Wow."

While Tesla's stock plummeted on Monday, X also had a string of disruptions that Musk attributed to a "massive cyberattack," though he did not elaborate. Musk made sure to disseminate a wacky conspiracy theory on a fire that damaged multiple Cybertrucks at a Tesla lot in Seattle late on Sunday night while the website was operational.

Without providing any proof, the anonymous author of a right-wing account asserted, "TERROR: Multiple Democrat [non-governmental organizations] have coordinated attacks on Tesla dealerships, staff, and vehicles." Several Cybertrucks were set on fire in Seattle last night. Democrats are growing more aggressive and desperate., The names and political connections of any suspected arsonists have not yet been made public, and the fire is actually still being investigated. "This is crazy," Musk continued, sharing the obviously untrue idea that Democratic NGOs were to fault.

No X account seems too obscure for Musk to promote when it comes to nice content regarding Tesla. On Sunday, a blue-check user with fewer than 5,000 followers commented, "All the protests and stories of vandalism to @Tesla service centers and harassment of Tesla owners are insane". “Let’s all stand together and push back against the aggression!” The Tesla emblem and the phrase "Stand With Tesla" were displayed in an accompanying graphic. Musk shared it again with his large following, but the emotion didn't stop him from losing $23 billion the next day.
