Emory University announced late Friday afternoon that there was an active shooter at a CVS located on its campus in Atlanta.
The university urged individuals to shelter in place and stay away from the vicinity of Emory Point, an apartment complex situated across from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The Atlanta Police Department released a statement indicating that they were investigating the situation and still collecting information.
No details were available at that time regarding any gunfire or injuries.
"We are on lockdown, and everyone has relocated to the interior," Todd Ginsberg, an owner of the nearby General Muir deli, stated in a text message on Friday.
