LG Electronics is making waves in the premium television market with the introduction of its first Micro RGB evo model, set to debut at CES 2026. The groundbreaking display has already earned a CES 2026 Innovation Award before its official unveiling.
The technology represents a significant leap forward, marking an evolution from traditional Mini LED technology by swapping white backlights with individual RGB LEDs.
Revolutionary Backlight Technology
Unlike conventional televisions that use white backlights, the Micro RGB evo employs LG TV's smallest individual RGB LEDs for each backlight zone. This approach delivers a dramatically wider color array than previous-generation Mini LED screens.
LG calls the technology "RGB Primary Color Ultra," which is the company's branding for this breakthrough display method. The television features more than 1,000 dimming zones orchestrated with exceptional accuracy through Micro Dimming Ultra technology.
Industry-Leading Color Certification
The LG Micro RGB evo has achieved Intertek certification for 100 percent color gamut coverage in BT.2020, DCI-P3, and Adobe RGB standards. This represents the highest possible color reproduction, offering optimal accuracy for everything from digital editing and HDR cinema to next-generation display technologies.
What sets LG's Micro RGB TVs apart is that their color accuracy has been independently verified by Intertek, a quality assurance company. This incident recalls similar display breakthroughs in mobile technology that have transformed consumer expectations.
OLED Precision Meets RGB Technology
The LG Micro RGB evo uses OLED precision to control each of the RGB LED backlights, bringing 13 years of LG OLED's technical excellence to the RGB category. This creates high contrast performance among LCD TVs, pinpointing brightness and color control to reveal intricate details in both dark and bright scenes.
The engine driving this performance is the newly upgraded Dual AI Engine-based α11 AI Processor Gen 3. The processor features Dual Super Upscaling to simultaneously process two types of AI upscaling, enhancing sharpness while delivering natural and balanced images.
Size Options and Market Competition
LG will offer the Micro RGB evo (model MRGB95) in three sizes: 100 inches, 86 inches, and 75 inches. This range provides more accessibility compared to Samsung's 115-inch Micro RGB model announced earlier this year, which retails for $29,999.
However, LG won't be alone in this market segment. Both Samsung and Hisense are bringing similarly specced TVs to CES 2026, while TCL has announced its own version for the Chinese market.
Enhanced Smart Features
Beyond picture quality, the Micro RGB evo features the award-winning webOS platform with Voice ID, AI Picture/Sound Wizard, and a personalized "My Page" home screen. An upgraded AI Concierge, AI Chatbot, and AI Search further enhance viewing by helping customers effortlessly explore content-related information.
"Achieving the utmost visual fidelity is the goal of any display, and with the LG Micro RGB evo, we have achieved a milestone previously thought impossible for this category," said Park Hyoung-sei, president of the LG Media Entertainment Solution Company.
CES 2026 Showcase
Visitors to CES 2026 can experience the LG Micro RGB evo at the company's booth (#15004, Las Vegas Convention Center) from January 6-9.
